This Spring, the Performing Arts Program at CHS is putting on Phantom of the Opera, which will include dramatic and beautiful scenes of love and sadness, as well as exciting music and dancing. It is personally one of my favorite operas and when our classroom was asked to create masks for the masquerade scene, I immediately agreed and we began our project! The masks are being created by the students enrolled in the AP art, Art II, Drawing I/II, and Painting courses.
These four masks are from the first day of creating, and each mask has transformed from a blank surface to an elaborate, creative product. They are all so different and extremely interesting, based on sketches completed by the students and created with materials donated by the performing arts parents and students. What fun this has been! More images to come of completed masks, which will be sent off soon to debut on the stage!
The performances of Phantom of the Opera at CHS will be on May 17 and 18. Be sure to grab your tickets now!
